Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about who we serve, what the Foundation does and does not provide, and how to get support or get involved.
Who does The Osborne Foundation serve?
The Foundation serves single mothers and their children in Birmingham, Jefferson County, and surrounding Central Alabama communities. Priority may be given to mothers facing barriers involving legal challenges, family instability, housing concerns, financial hardship, educational barriers, employment, domestic violence-related circumstances, or limited access to supportive resources.
What types of programs does the Foundation offer?
Our work is organized around three pillars: Protect (legal advocacy and justice-related resources), Educate (educational advancement and scholarship support), and Restore (restorative and family-centered support). Program availability may vary as capacity, funding, and community partnerships develop.
Does the Foundation provide legal representation?
No. The Foundation provides general educational information, resources, advocacy, and referrals. Information shared by the Foundation or on this website is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. Legal representation is provided only by appropriately authorized legal professionals, and mothers seeking representation are directed to appropriate legal-service pathways.
How can I learn about educational opportunities?
Contact us through the inquiry form and select "Educational Opportunities" as your reason for contacting us. We will share information about the educational pathways and scholarship efforts the Foundation is able to support, along with community education resources.
How can I support the Foundation?
You can give financially, volunteer your time or professional skills, connect your organization as a community partner, or explore corporate sponsorship. Every form of support helps strengthen programs for single mothers and their families.
How can my organization become a partner?
Community organizations, educational institutions, service providers, and professionals can reach out through the contact form and select "Community Partnership." We will follow up to discuss shared goals and how a partnership could expand access to resources.
How can I volunteer?
